What is preventative medicine?
Preventive medicine is exactly what it sounds like. It prevents sickness or disease BEFORE it happens. It is what we like to call pro-healthcare which consists of taking preventative steps to avoid disease, rather than treat disease. Care can include lab tests, physical exam nutritional counseling, and other services. Some examples would be screening for blood pressure, cancer, cholesterol, depression, and diabetes.
Why is preventative medicine important?
Chronic disease and obesity are on the rise. Diabetes and heart disease account for seven out of ten deaths. Learning and implementing healthy habits are critical for preventing a chronic disease. Here at Complete Care, you will have access to a one-on-one coach in addition to your provider, who can help you implement a healthier lifestyle.
