Dr. Volz grew up in a holistic household that recognized the benefits of the outdoors, healthy food, and bodywork. This means that his professional training started decades before he started chiropractic school. In 2018, after working as a massage therapist and yoga teacher for over a decade, Dr. Volz graduated from Life West Chiropractic College.

He previously worked with Siskiyou Massage in Ashland, and has been a teacher at Om Sweet Om Yoga Studio in Talent.

Dr. Volz has presented on Concussions at the American Chiropractic Association Sports Council Sports Symposium and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, and has given lectures to professional groups such as the Peace Health Hospital and the Rogue Valley Medical Center. He volunteered with the Alta Bates Sutter Medical Center, Oakland Unified School District, and the Council of Concerned Medical Professionals, and has worked with several Rogue Valley businesses such as Banyan Botanicals, Farm to Fork Events, and the Ashland Springs Hotel.

Since entering healthcare in 2002 Dr. Volz has refined his approach to health and wellbeing. His time-tested approach consists of the following elements.

  • Mind/Body Medicine — The biopsychosocial approach to joint and spine pain confirms that pain is more than just a physical phenomenon and that true recovery and healing requires inclusion of the mind and emotions.
  • Sequencing and Intention — If you are baking bread and you follow the instructions in the reverse order, it will not work. Having all the right ingredients for health is the first step and putting them in the right order, or using them at the right time, is what a guide like Dr. Volz can help with. Health requires that the stories you tell yourself are ones that will lead you toward healing and recovery.
  • Guidance and Support — Every hero has a guide. Frodo had Gandalf. King Arthur had Merlin. Cinderella had her fairy godmother. Dr. Volz’s job as a physician is to be one of your guides to help you take the next step in your journey in becoming the hero of your own story.

Dr. Volz is the author of New Year Re-Solution: A 14 Day Ayurvedic Program to Lose Weight and Feel Your Best and The Master Student: The Ultimate Guide to Success, Enjoyment and Productivity as a Chiropractic College Student. When Dr. Volz isn’t with patients he can be found reading a good book, backpacking, and riding his bike.
